EDF Renewables Canada Inc. is in the process of developing the Richardson Battery Energy Storage System (“BESS”, the Project) located in the Municipality of Lakeshore, Ontario, in response to a request for proposals (the “E-LT1 RFP”) issued by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). This program has been launched to address regional electricity system needs, driven by increasing demand, the retirement of the Pickering nuclear plant, the refurbishment of other nuclear generating units, as well as expiring contracts for existing facilities.

The proposed energy storage project will be sited on around 5 acres of private land and is situated approximately 400 m West of Richardson Side Road, between Morris Road and Middle Road.

EDF Renewables Canada Inc. invites you to our first in-person Public Community Meeting to learn more about the Project.

This Public Community Meeting is being held as part of the early community engagement requirements of the E-LT1 RFP. Representatives of EDF Renewables Canada Inc. will be available to discuss the project. Should the Project be awarded a contract by the IESO, EDF Renewables Canada Inc. will work on obtaining all required environmental and municipal authorizations to build the Project, while pursuing its engagement efforts with the community to share project information and updates. Project updates and resources will also be made available on the Project website: https://www.edf-re.com/project/richardson-storage/.
