Baseload Power Corp., as general partner of Baseload Power LP (“Baseload Power”), is developing the Southwest Ontario Energy Storage Facility (the “Project”) in response to requests for proposals (“RFPs”) issued by the Government of Ontario through the Independent Electricity System Operator’s (“IESO”). After more than a decade of strong electricity supply, Ontario is entering a period of substantially decreasing electricity supply and increasing electricity demand that will require new electricity resources this decade. To address these needs, the IESO is competitively securing 2,500 MW of capacity through a number of RFPs, which will focus on meeting emerging system reliability needs. For the Project, Baseload is undertaking a Class Environmental Assessment for Minor Transmission Facilities (“Class EA”) in accordance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The Class EA is a process for electrical transmission related projects that are not classified as electrical generation projects and are anticipated to have a predictable range of environmental effects that can feasibly be mitigated with protection measures in place.
The Project is proposed to be up to a 650-Megawatt, 5,200 Megawatt-hour battery energy storage facility and is to occupy only a portion of the red outlined parcel of land shown in the attached map (the “Property”). The Project will consist of battery storage enclosures, electrical inverters and transformers, internal access roads, electrical and communication cabling, a small transmission substation and other related electrical and infrastructure facilities. The Project will connect to the Hydro One Networks Inc.’s (“Hydro One”) transmission system that is located directly across the street from the Property. The Project is intended to improve the electrical transmission system in the region and across Ontario, specifically addressing
weak points in electrical capacity, efficiency and reliability, by charging during times of reduced demand and discharging during times of peak demand.

Baseload Power is hosting a public open house to provide stakeholders the opportunity to review details of the Project as well as to provide comments to the Project team. We hope that you will attend the Baseload Power Open House and look forward to seeing you there.
